Operation Christmas Child update

Its been a while since I have had a chance to update my blog. We went on vacation for 10 days and still trying to get back into the groove of things.

I wanted to update you on what we put in our Operation Christmas Child box. We picked a girl between the ages 5-8. We bought her an outfit , a barbie, and UNO playing cards. My daughter Ariana put a picture of herself in the box along with some information about her. She was very excited! I love that she knows the how wonderful it is to give to others!

I truly recommend giving to a child who is less fortunate this holiday season. :)

Operation Christmas Child

My daughter's school participates in Operation Christmas Child, which is a distributes shoe boxes filled by people or families to needy children all over the world. Since we live in Canada the country they are shipping their shoeboxes to this year are Haiti. I think this is a great opportunity to do this activity and show our children the importance of giving to others. It shows them how to be selfless. This week we are going to start to fill our shoebox. We will have to choose the gender of the child we want to fill the box for and their age. I will keep you updated on how it goes and what we fill our shoebox with.

If you are interested in participating or know someone who is they can go to

November is thirty days of thankfulness

A friend of mine gave me the challenge to post on facebook everyday in November with something I am thankful for. I am really excited about this challenge because it will help me focus on all the positive things in my life which certainly outweigh the negative.  Sometimes we as people get so consumed with the "bad" things going on & we forget about all the wonderful things we have. It is nice to put things into perspective. Today, let's count our blessings! I know I have at least three blessings!

A Picture is worth a thousand words

I have been a photography fan for a few years now, well ever since I got a nice point and shoot canon digital camera!  A little over a year ago my husband bought me a Digital SLR camera. I was so excited, even though I had no idea how to use it.  I put the camera in automatic mode and began to play with it. It took amazing photos!!! I quickly decided to look up photography classes, I was determined to learn how to take great pictures!  I couldn't find any classes that fit my hectic schedule with two children and a full time job. It was very discouraging until I came upon a web based class. It was not only on my own time but only $13! I thought in a few short weeks I will be taking fantastic pictures, WRONG!! Although I learned the basics of the camera from the inexpensive online class, it was still not enough! A year or so went by and I could still only take pictures in automatic or the pre-set options provided by canon. I was determined to find a class and make it work out! Good news, I did! I started taking a photography class in September & I finally understand how to get out of automatic mode! I am still practicing all the great things I have learned & not every shot I take is worthy of others viewing but at least I have ventured beyond the basics & take advantage of the investment in a good quality camera!
